What is the next big thing? Well, it's time to dust off your rolodex, get on the Horn of Africa and start talking about "agar."

What do your contacts know about agar and know what they used to? What are perfect distributors for you? How is the word that you are a source of agar?

Trends that last are developed slowly through a network of companies and Talking Heads.

What is agar?

Let's start with the Aquilaria trees. It is a type of evergreen that grows to a great height and are indigenous Southeast Asia.

It is not the tree that will be directly involved, but what happens when the tree is infected with mold. Factory chemical nature goes to work and produces a resin that is very aromatic.

The trees do not have to wait for an infection yeast to come, the tree growers about cutting trees and making conditions right for the yeast infection to flourish and the resin to be produced.

Another name for the agar is the common term most appropriate "agarwood." The resin has many names, in addition to wood agar, including Jinko, gaharu, aloeswood and oud.

The oil that is extracted and refined from agarwood is witnessing growing demand, especially in the Middle East. The prices reflected in the demand and the demand is greater than the oil is used for the manufacture of perfumes and fragrances used in cosmetics and is considered one of the best by many.

Thailand is expanding its production of Aquilaria trees, because they see the growing demand for what the locals like Oud agar ().

If you've traveled a lot, you've probably run across agar, but they were not aware that at that time.

The pharmaceutical industry uses Agarwood in Japan and Europe are common in cosmetics. In fact, agarwood is a very common commodity on joss sticks.

One liter of agar of the premium may reach as much as 20,000 dollars or more.

You ask, why suddenly is going to be a trend towards the involvement of agarwood?

Here is the meat of the story of trend. Commercial production of agar is strictly prohibited by the government of Thailand for hundreds of years, but only A few years ago, trees that produce the desired agar resin were removed from the list of protected plants in the Kingdom of Thailand. This was done after the government realized that money could be pumped into the economy of Thailand if it allows the production of commercially Oud.

Seven years have passed since the lifting of the ban, but takes years to grow trees, and are regularly planted, but growing plantation trees require large capital investment.

To put this in perspective, taking ten to forty years for a mature tree to produce the raw oud, artificially cultivated but oil can be extracted from a tree in just three years after tree planting.

Is in the same field of thought as pearls. There are pearls that occur over time and then not cultured pearls that were created by a Japanese man industrious.

The raw resin of trees that would had those ten to forty years to mature, while the lower priced and even desirable Oud was essentially infect more young trees with the fungus.

True, one can not consider that this is a trend that's going on growing your own tree, but your thinking should take the following steps;

  1. Who uses the oil agar?

  1. Can I buy in bulk and resold in smaller portions?

  1. Is there a right on this? If so, how much and how is it determined?

  1. Is there money in just being an intermediary (distributor)?

  1. Can I create a mystique about the issue by writing a story of its heritage and its use?

  1. Ceremonies that call for the use of oil?

  1. Should I try a line of my own oils and fragrances that this characteristic of oil and its properties?

  1. Who I help with putting this together?

  1. Maybe I could just make or import decanters and perfume bottles for the oil and oil not to treat it.

  1. Close to me Who has the oil, so that you can smell and know more about it?

  1. Is there a similar product that should be investigated?

  1. How can I see this trend developing or do I participate in some way?

  1. If I found a advertisement in a publication of the industry (cosmetics / fragrance) What kind of response I get? Of course, it depends on what your ad promises, requests or it offers.

I like to keep my eyes open to the trends that are developing, but hidden from view. Honestly, Before reading this article, have you heard of Oud, agar agar or wood?

Stay tuned, I'm always looking for new trends and ways of detecting them.
