Any good sci-fi books I read?
I have read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, Time Warp Trio series, most Stargate SG-1 Series [I read litmus test, a question of honor, Siren Song, the survival of the fittest and Allaince], and part of Stargate Atlantis [Halcyon and part of Entanglement]. I also read a few of the books of Star Wars [Tatooine Ghost, Courtship of Princess Leia, Jedi Apprentice]. Any suggestions for what to read next? I like science fiction action-adventure with humor and some very chaste romance. Please do not suggest that the books adult material or inappropriate that are not funny. I do not like those of Star Trek. Also, have you read Roswell by Sonny Whitelaw? If you have, what happens and I read it? Thank you very much for answering. I'm not that fond of fantasy
OK, "caste" Science fiction is a kind of my forte (sex on SciFi usually distracts from the story). First Instead, * nothing * by Andre Norton, but especially the following (all at least very good * * Some * excellent *). Books (romance) have some romance in them - the rest, the best I can remember, have none. The merchants of time series (time travel) (romance) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Andre_Norton # Time_Travel The Zero Stone books http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Andre_Norton # Zero_Stone Solar Queen books http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Andre_Norton # Solar_Queen The Janus Books (romance) books http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Andre_Norton # Janus central control http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Andre_Norton # Seriesstar Son of Man Star guard (also called 2250 AD, my favorite, but not to speak of romance) Isaac Asimov's original Foundation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_series Serial # The_trilogy. The sequels "are not as" caste ". The original trilogy is one of the science fiction series of all time. In addition, Asimov's "I, Robot". Romance very little, but I recommend only science fiction as a "must read". The first two books of Elijah Baley, can benefit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elijah_Baley also. I can not remember for sure, but the hero * could * cheat on his wife in the book of the 2nd. I really do not think it does, but it's been years since I've read. I can say with certainty that if you do not, it is explicit. Stay away from the 3 rd book. Read "I, Robot" before reading these. * These are excellent scifi murder mysteries. Of course, the original Star Wars trilogy is worth reading - just fill your criteria, as many things left out of the movies. (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi). Most pre-70 for SciFi is probably going to meet your project law so far this breed, but most lack romance. Dune and Flowers for Algernon are 2 that are not "breed" - avoid these. HG Wells and Jules Verne, are full action (and Verne great humor), but most lack romance. Journey to the Center of the Earth is probably my favorite science fiction of all time, and fun, but the romance is only the beginning and the end where Harry leaves his girlfriend and then goes back to her. However, online free like all books of Verne. Also read "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Mysterious Island to start. Verne is almost always excellent - but "In the adventure of the Earth to the Moon" and "Around the Moon" are in the boring part (only good). Around the World in 80 days is not science fiction (unlike most of his other books), but remains large and has the romance more than most. Another great - Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I just read this recently - Excellent! Final selection: the original book of Buck Rogers - * really * Excellent ", title Armageddon 2419 AD" by Philip Francis Nowlan. I hope he can find - Amazon has only been used. I wish I could remember more from what I read when I was younger. Anyway, this is a good start. Most of these probably hit the TV / movie books out of the water quality in terms of history continues (I know that the spin-off of Star Wars books I read are terrible). Jim http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com PS Rama series, recommended for an answer, is definitely * not * breed! PPS also Harper Hall trilogy, as I recall, is chaste (but a hair). * * This is an excellent series, however, and I think the main character, at least, remains chaste in most of the 3 books (perhaps all). Several of his teammates are not, however.
